Each day is thoroughly planned and carefully designed in order to cater for your child’s stage of development in each of the three phases Playgroup, Nursery and Reception. Their learning journey will consist of the following key areas:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Literacy
- Communication and Language Development (Including Vietnamese)
- Mathematics
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Development
- Physical Development
Little Giants recognises the importance of a hands-on, interactive and engaging curriculum which allows each child to explore and discover. We encourage independence throughout the learning process and celebrate each ‘giant step’ in your child’s development in order to foster a sense of purpose and achievement.
The learning environment is enriched with verbal communication, literacy and mathematics as these are valued as key life skills. At this stage your child will be introduced to the Read Write Inc. scheme so their progress with letters, sounds and handwriting formations (including numbers) can be tracked and acted upon. A positive attitude towards the Vietnamese language is also embedded through fun, energetic and interactive communicative games that introduce basic vocabulary. Mathematics, at this stage, is largely done through guided play so an adult can introduce key concepts/ vocabulary such as, add, take-away, names of shapes and the concept of measure.
All pupils are encouraged to practise their skills and use their knowledge to engage in guided activities which are recorded and assessed in their Learning Goals.
